This little booklet is packed with many diverse topics:
Early settlers, including Jonathan Grant and Jonathan Butler; a devastating fire in Millersburg; Pennsylvania emigration to Ohio with names of many attending "The Pennsylvania Picnic" in 1880, the nomination of Abraham Lincoln with the aid of Dr. Robert Enos; the Dunkards; the Holmes County Rebellion (in opposition to the draft); and Dr. James Irvine, Millersburg's first mayor.
The Howe history covers the development of this area until about 1890, while excerpts from the WPA book, give a nostalgic glimpse from a 1940 vantage point, including interesting historical notes, especially as they relate to sightseeing possibilities.

will find many names of early settlers, as well as a list of 1888 county officers and businesses. A 1933 look at the history of newspapers in the county, a map showing the 88 Ohio counties and a map of 1805 Ohio are included.
